PIRC...Parent Information Resource Center

 

Family Bridges is a part of the SW MO PIRC team. The Break room/resource library was funded in part through this project. Family Bridges has access to many resources that can be provided to educators as free resources for the parents of the students they teach.

Some of these resources include:

  • Materials on the benefits of reading to your child
  • Tips for parental involvment in public education
  • Information on No Child Left Behind
  • Hispanic parents reading tool kits
  • Information on 504 plans for students

 

 

 

 

Monthly Family Support Meetings

Family Bridges can provide flyers to class room teachers about our six monthly family support meetings, Kid's Club meetings and Youth Standing Tall meetings. These flyers can be sent to you through electronic e-mail, snail mail and in some circumsatnces hand delivered. We are available to provide exhibit booths at school events and to speak to parents at preschool, Head Start and public school parent meetings such as PTO and PTA meetings.

 

What would my student's family receive from  monthly Family Support Meetings?

 

  • Support from other families going through similiar circumstances
  • Education about their child's diagnosis
  • Information on their responsiblities as a parent of a child receiving special education services
  • Support for your student's siblings
  • Kid's Club Campfire USA provides an opportunity to earn recognition badges when completing activities and learning new skills
  • Children learn through a Character Education program how to be responsible students and community members
  • Youth learn to see themselves for their gifts and talents
  • Youth learn to take responsibility for their diagnosis and the managment of their diagnosis and their behaviors
  • Families learn they are no longer alone on their journey
  • Families learn of opportunities of social and other family events so they no longer isolate and keep to themselves

   Annual Children's Mental Health Conference

 

The annual Children's Mental Heath conference offers several opportunities for educators within the state of Missouri. This is a statewide annual conference, held at the Resort at Port Arrowhead. Check out what this conference has to offer you as an educator.

  • As opportunity to learn about the latest services and supports available to your students and their families
  • Updated information on various diagnosis and interventions
  • A chance to network with other educators from across the state
  • Additional training at a responsible fee
